
Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon was born on the 22nd of March in 1976. Witherspoon has received numerous awards such as an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award and an Emmy Award, Primetime Emmy Award, and two Golden Globe Awards, she has always been a top performer among the top-paid actresses in the world. Time magazine and Forbes both have named her among the 100 most influential people on the globe in 2007 and 2015 respectively. Forbes has named her the World's Richest Actress in 2021. Her net worth is estimated at 400 million. Witherspoon first appeared on screen in 1991 as an untrained teenager. Her breakthrough came in 1999 with the role of a supporting actress in Cruel Intentions, and for her performance as Tracy Flick in the black comedy Election. Her fame grew with the role of Elle Woods in the comedy Legally Blonde (2001) and its sequel in 2003 and for her performance in the romantic comedy Sweet Home Alabama (2002). She won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of June Carter Cash in the musical biopic Walk the Line. Following a dip in her career, in which her only box office film success was the romantic drama Water for Elephants (2011), Witherspoon made a comeback by producing and starring as Cheryl Strayed in the drama Wild (2014) that was nominated again for Best Actress at the Academy Awards. Since then, she has been heavily involved in television productions, and has appeared in a variety of female-led adaptations of literary works. They include the HBO drama series Big Little Lies (2017-2019) in addition to the Apple TV+ drama series The Morning Show (2019-present) and the Hulu miniseries Little Fires Everywhere (2020). The Primetime Emmy Award was won for Outstanding Limited Series in the first episode of the series. She also produced the movies Gone Girl (2014), and Where the Crawdads Sing (222). She is on the Children's Defense Fund's board and was named Global Ambassador of Avon Products in 2007. In that capacity, she also acts as the honorary chair for Avon Foundation's charitable foundation dedicated to women's issues.
