Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin, a Canadian-New Zealander actress. Paquin was born in Winnipeg and grew up in Wellington and made her debut in the role of Flora McGrath when she played her role of Flora McGrath in The Piano. She won an Academy Award at the age of 11 to be the Best Supporting Actress. Anna Paquin's full name was Anna Helene Paquin. Born on July 24, 1982, at Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, she was an Canadian born New Zealand actress. As a child, Paquin won an Academy Award for best support actress. The role she played as the empathetic and curious young girl Holly Hunter played in The Piano (1993) was the reason she won the award. After an audition, Flora McGrath was cast as the daughter of a Scottish piano player. Flora McGrath is the daughter of the mute Scottish musician, who emigrated to New Zealand to marry in the 19th century. When she was in her teens, the actress relocated to America. Paquin appeared as Jane Eyre's protagonist as a teenager in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre (2000) and the main role for the character in Fly Away Home (2000). Paquin played Frankie Addams, a character in Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding in 1997. In Steven Spielberg's Amistad in 1997 her character was the Spanish queen in a smaller role. The actress played teenagers as teens in Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (1998), A Walk on the Moon (1998) and Almost Famous (2000). In addition, she portrayed the groupie Polexia Aphrodisa.
